Today is the first day of Spring! That is if you follow the astronomical calendar. Otherwise, the meteorological spring started on March 1st. Either way, the good news is that the weather is warming up, and there is more sunshine each day. Thank God for the sunshine!
Did you know God creates all things on Earth, including the seasons?
I recall sitting in Sunday School in Iowa with a group of farmers. One of them talked about how He knows God is real. For him, he planted a seed in the earth and covered it with soil. He watered it and did his best to keep weeds at bay. However, he saw the seed grow, and within a short timeframe, the seed became food for his family to eat. He explained that only God could do something like that. He knew that he, himself, as an experienced farmer, could only plant the seed, cover it up, and water it. He could not make it grow or make it nourishable for his family to consume. Only God could do that.
The Bible tells us that God created all things (Genesis 1). He created heaven and earth. He created light and dark. He created water and land. He also created grass, trees, animals, people, and everything. Throughout scripture, we see that God sends rain to the earth. Sometimes it is just enough to sustain crops, and other times, it is enough for flooding to occur (Acts 14:17, Amos 4:7, Genesis 7). He can also withhold rain and cause drought (Jeremiah 3:3, Zechariah 10:11).
God is in control of all things, not just the rain. This week, I challenge you to pay attention to all of the things that God created and how He maintains control.
Notice the birds chirping and the sounds of new life all around you. Rejoice! God is good.
Matthew 6:26 says, “Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?” God creates, controls, and takes care of things. He will take care of you too.
Notice the land being refreshed as written in Joel 2:18-27. God is good!
